Trust

Trust… the biggest five letter word there is. What is trust? What does it mean to you? What does it take for you to trust someone or even yourself?

What is trust? We each have our own ideas, none are more right than anyone else’s idea of trust. To me trust is a simple idea, but so complex and so hard to do sometimes. Trust is the thought that you are not going to do anything that would make me question your honesty and integrity. You are not going to do anything that makes me question your friendship or loyalty. I do not have to wonder if while you are out with other friends that you are speaking poorly about me when I am not around. Trust is a commitment to the people in your life that your secrets are safe with them. Trust is I know any promise you make to me will not be broken.

Trust such a simple concept but very hard for some people to keep. Everyday someone somewhere is breaking the trust of someone. Trust and Honesty go hand in hand, if people are not honest with you how can you ever trust them. Honesty is a cheap commodity to a lot of people these days. People want to feed you the information they want to share which maybe real or just a load of shit.

I don’t have kids but if I did I would teach them that trust and honesty are two of the most important pillars of life. If you don’t have these virtues you may go far in life but you won’t have a life you can be proud of. At the end of the day these virtues far out weigh the almighty dollar. We waste so much of our life chasing the dollar that we don’t see we are destroying ourselves with dishonesty and lies. I would teach my kids that if you feel that you have to keep something a secret from someone you love, it’s because you know what you are doing is wrong. If it wasn’t wrong you wouldn’t be afraid if others knew.

One lie can cost you everything you have worked for. One lie can break the foundation if trust you have built in your relationships. Is that one lie worth it?

Be kind to your self be good to your fellow people give them Trust and Honesty, be a better person.
